Power of Attorney

General Power of Attorney is nothing but, a written document authorizing one person known as agent to act or represent on behalf of another person who is known as principal. The GPA can be cancelled as per Principal’s will but in order to revoke, principal has to refer to Sec 202 of Indian Contracts Act 1872. Whereas Special Power of Attorney is also a written document authorizing one person known as agent to act or represent on behalf of another person who is known as principal but only for a specific task. For Ex, A person is in abroad and want to take all the decisions over the property or father is hospitalised and you need some one to take care of the business requirements and so on. GPA gets cancelled automatically once the death of principal / executant.
